James Donovan

James Donovan has 30 years of yacht design experience working with some of the most respected yacht designers like Bruce Farr, Doug Peterson, and Gary Mull. Combining this experience with over 35 years of yacht racing and cruising has provided him a solid foundation in all facets of yacht design. His design work has been diverse, involving over 150 different yacht designs ranging in size from 6m day sailors to 40m luxury yachts, including America’s Cup yachts, Round the World Race yachts, Grand-Prix racing yachts, successful One Designs, and high speed powerboats. In 1995 James established J.P. Donovan Design firm. Since then he has produced many custom yacht designs and modified existing yachts and worked as a designer with AC syndicates specializing in design/construction for both hull and rig construction.
